Mentoring Program
What is The His Place Mentoring Program?
THURSDAY NIGHT MENTORING PROGRAM
On Hold
We want to thank our faithful mentors that have been a part of this for the last 3 years. A special thanks to mentors Ron Blake, Howard Munday, Gerry Nardi, and Bert Rugg and in 2006/2007 new mentors and helpers Edith Dyer, Glen and Noni Farrington for the many hours of dedication, sharing their talents and experiences with the youth that attended every Thursday night.
Note: Pam Rugg had just joined us as a mentor recently. We had a need for more women mentors at that time. If you are interested in helping to renew this program please call Bert Rugg at 743-9503 or Cell 515-3000.
At the end of March 2007 (after about 18 months or so) we completed the "Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.
We have found the youth have benefited from being a part of the mentoring program because they have had an opportunity to learn from more than one mentor. In the coming months we hope to look at rebuilding this great program and look forward to working with more youth as well. We will be working with youth in some cases 14 years old and up.
Over the last 3 years during the ODEP Grant in conjunction with Big Brothers/big Sisters and with the US Department of Labor and Maine Mentoring Partnership we have been working with 16 years and older but have found we need to start earlier to better impact them. The ODEP Grant stopped as at the end of September 2006. We are very grateful for the help and expertise this brought to us at His Place.
If you are interested in being a mentor for this program please contact Bert to see how you can be involved. Their is a screening process involved in this. F.M.I. contact Bert at (207)-743-9503 or Cell (207)-515-3000.
