What is His Place Teen Center?
(This site was updated Feb. 1, 2010)
(We are in the process of updating this site.)
His Place Teen Center, (now going into our 18th full year of operation), is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit corporation operating under the corporate name of Youth Outreach Ministries Inc. We are a Faith based, inter-denominational drop-in center located on 2.25 acres of land at 254 Webber Brook road in Oxford, Me. The center is open every Friday night from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. His Place Teen Center is a safe, well supervised facility with an average attendance of 25-30 youth, with up to 10 trained men and women staff that love teens. "The Outpost", our version of a Teen Church (is totally voluntary) takes place during our former sharing time from 7:30-8:00 time slot, allowing us to reach the entire group of youth that night. We have had a great response from the youth and even had some of them share their own testimony. (Please see The Outpost/Teen Church link for more information). We have many activities for boys & girls ages 11-18 to enjoy. We have 2-4 new youth that find us every week and bring their friends.
Phase I Facility a 26' x 40' game room with 2 full sized pool tables, fooseball, 2 Play Station II video games, air hockey and computers on line with DSL, (closely monitored), along with upbeat music and fellowship. This provides youth a great place to have fun with your friends and meet new ones.
Phase II Facility (This is still under construction) but houses a 28' x 32' multi-purpose room, 2 wheel chair accessible bathrooms, (we have one completed), a full sized commercial kitchen with a snack bar area and a future fitness room with showers. Our big multi-purpose room has a 8' x 12' stage for our inhouse band and provides a place to visit with your friends, have some snacks or food from our fully stocked snack bar off of our commercial kitchen. Our snack bar has very affordable prices including a good variety of food and beverage choices and a full variety of candy at our candy counter. In the near future we also have a fitness room with showers. This will provide a great outreach for single moms and parents to get together as well as the youth.
Ham Radio Room This is located upstairs (being constructed now with private funds) which will give any of the youth, parents and friends in the community an opportunity to get their ham radio license. We have been given over $2,500.00 worth of ham radio equipment for this and we put up a 50' tower in November of 2006. When the room is fully set up we will have the capability to communicate with the International Space Station and around the world. Brad Saunders is an experienced ham radio operater and well known in the Maine ham radio community. He will teach Ham Radio classes for us and add to what we offer here at His Place Teen Center. F.M.I. or want to take a class contact us.
Outside we have a paved and lit 30' x 60' basketball court, a softball field, a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit and other fun activities. You are more than welcome to drop by and see our facilities and talk with the Executive Director. To set up an appointment or to obtain more information, call Bert Rugg at (207) 743-9503 or (207) 515-3000.
Bike Trips This is something we are well known for and have been doing since 1995. This is a great way to get to know the youth. We typically go for a 20-30 mile bike run on many Sunday afternoons from about 1:00-5:00 PM. to get ready for the big bike trip we do every year. This year we drove out to Lake George New York and biked back to His Place Teen Center for a big homecoming party and celebration. F.M.I. check out our Bike Trips link or call Bert Rugg at 743-9503 or 515-3000 or Artie Hladik at 890-4056.

"Reaching Out to Youth"
Mathew 9:12,13
"On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
