BIG CANOE TRIP TO ALGONQUIN, CANADA

JULY 18-26, 2008

This was our big trip this year and a first for us at His Place Teen Center. We took 12 people staff and youth, boys and girls. We traveled to Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario Canada from the teen center and rented Kevlar canoes on location. These were  lighter and made the portage times better. We lugged canoes, gear, food, etc. for 9 1/2 mi miles between bodies of water over the period of the 8 day trip. The portages were double portages, necessary to carry all our gear so we actually did 28 1/2 miles of portaging.  We will be updating the site with photos of this new adventure.  F.M.I.
